Stories of change

Small steps can open new worlds.

These programme stories show the kind of progress CRD seeks to nurture through patient care, learning, therapy and practical opportunity.

01 · SPECIAL SCHOOL

A new way to communicate

A learner begins with simple gestures, pictures and patient encouragement. Gradually, choosing an activity or expressing a basic need becomes possible. What may appear to be a small response can bring new confidence to the learner and new hope to the family.

02 · CARE HOME

A place to belong

Regular meals, familiar routines, recreation and caring relationships create more than accommodation. They create security. In that dependable environment, a resident can participate more freely and experience the dignity of being known, valued and included.

03 · VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Confidence made by hand

Learning to make a candle, paper pen, umbrella, soap product or crochet item develops concentration and coordination. Completing an item also brings the satisfaction of saying, “I made this”—a meaningful step towards self-belief and independence.

More genuine stories are coming
